The students of Std. IX, St. Kabir School, Navrangpura, visited the “Museum on Wheels”, a
unique mobile exhibition presented by the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya
(CSMVS), Mumbai. The exhibition, titled “Sindhu–Sarasvati Civilization: A Century of
Discovery,” was organised at the Lalbhai Dalpatbhai Institute of Indology on 27 June 2026.
The exhibition offered an engaging journey into one of the world’s oldest urban civilizations
through replica artefacts, informative display panels, digital exhibits, maps and interactive
learning modules. Students explored various aspects of the Sindhu–Sarasvati Civilization,
including its remarkable town planning, drainage system, trade networks, seals, script,
pottery, jewellery, craftsmanship and everyday life. They also gained valuable insights into
the archaeological discoveries that have transformed our understanding of India’s ancient
past over the last hundred years.
The knowledgeable museum educators guided the students through the exhibits,
encouraging them to ask questions and think critically about the significance of
archaeological evidence in reconstructing history. The interactive format of the exhibition
made learning enjoyable and helped students connect classroom concepts with real
historical artefacts.
The visit proved to be an enriching educational experience that fostered curiosity,
appreciation for India’s rich cultural heritage and a deeper understanding of the importance
of preserving historical treasures. It was a memorable learning opportunity that
complemented the Social Science curriculum and inspired students to explore history
beyond textbooks.
