To touch words and have them touch you back is a miracle of reading in Braille that the sighted will never understand.
The World Braille Day, 4th January was celebrated by St Kabir High School, Navrangpura. The day marks the birthday of Louis Braille, the creator of braille. The occasion was honoured by inviting Mr. Mukesh Patel, Principal of the Physiotherapy College for the blind and course coordinator at Ahmedabad University. More than 1000 patients have received his care during his 28-year tenure. In addition, he was given the Jagdishbhai Patel Award for his outstanding efforts to inspire visually impaired kids. He delivers lectures on technology and core sciences to visually impaired students.
At the age of 26 years, despite of losing his eye sight , acquired literacy. His visual loss has never been an obstacle. He was a terrific motivation for pupils and a good role model for challengers, in the genuine sense of the word. Our brains are so capable that they only require constant streaming. He picked up the Rubik’s cube during lockdown period. He assured the kids that their capabilities are unequalled. He provided extensive information about Louis Braille’s life, the development of the Braille script, and even its mechanical details. He delivered a brilliant description of how technology has made it easier for visually impaired individuals to read PDF books, operate computers, and other devices.
Humans have immense potential.
