National Sports Day is celebrated on 29th August every year in India. It is the birthday of Major Dhyan Chand who is one of the most respected legendary figures in Indian and world hockey. The President of India gives away sport-related awards such as the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, Arjuna Award and Dronacharya Award on this day to sports achievers and coaches across various sporting fields.
Sports give us a sense of identity and national pride. To highlight the importance of this day, the students of St.Kabir High School, Navrangpura celebrated it with pride and enthusiasm. The day started with an oath taking ceremony by the students to stay fit and motivated. Then the sports teacher helped and encouraged students to participate in various sport activities of the school like karate, volleyball, basketball, kabadi, chess, yoga etc.. Students participated in various sports activities and rather than being exhausted were more enthusiastic and full of energy after drained with sweat. The various sporting activities include race,drills, etc were also performed by the students, displaying their ability and strength through these sports.
