A guru can take many forms—a trusted friend, a guiding relative, an unexpected stranger, or even a teacher in disguise! The words of Guru will echo in our heart forever, guiding us through life’s journey.
Goddess Saraswati is considered as the deity of wisdom, knowledge, and learning. We commemorate Vasant Panchmi on February 2nd this year. Hindu legend holds that Vasant Panchmi, sometimes referred to as the Goddess Saraswati’s birthday, is the day that music and art were created. We give thanks to Goddess Saraswati and our gurus on the day of Vasant Panchmi for giving us valuable lessons throughout our lives. The celebration also signifies the arrival of spring season.“Vasant or Basant” means Spring and “Panchmi” refers to the fifth day of the Hindu month of Megha (corresponding to January and February of Georgian calendar). Through this festival, children have the opportunity to reconnect with rituals and embrace their rich cultural heritage. It will make them believe in God and also if we follow the rituals of Basant Panchmi, we will learn the importance of studies in our life. We observe customs such as worshiping the goddess Saraswati, dressing in yellow & flying kites in several Indian states. The process goes like children keep their books in front of the idol of Goddess Saraswati and pray. Children wear yellow attire because the color symbolizes happiness, energy, and new starting. During the Pooja teacher, students and artists also place their tools of craft and musical instruments near the Goddess for her blessings. Students should seek the blessings of their Gurus and Goddess Saraswati for the academic success. So this Basant Panchmi, let us promise to ourselves that we will follow the rituals and celebrate the festival with spirituality and happiness!
