On the 1st of October, our school hosted a joint celebration to commemorate the birth anniversaries of two of India’s greatest leaders, Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. This day holds immense significance as it not only marks the birth of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, but also observes the life and values of India’s second Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri.

A special assembly was planned where students of Pre- Primary, 1st and 2nd gathered to pay tribute to these visionary leaders. Asst. Directror, Rashmi Trivedi, delivered a heartfelt speech, emphasizing the importance of Gandhiji’s philosophy of non-violence and Shastriji’s principle of simplicity and integrity. These values were highlighted as timeless lessons for the students to follow in their everyday lives.

Following the speech, tiny tots of pre- primary recited a beautiful poem and students of std 1 and 2 performed a short play depicting key moments from Mahatma Gandhi’s life. A short speech was delivered on Mahatma Gandhi’s three monkeys, emphasizing the values of“See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil” as essential lessons for leading a moral and kind life. In recent times, there has been talk of a fourth monkey, expanding Gandhi’s famous trio of the Three Monkeys. This fourth monkey represents the idea of “Do No Evil” reminding us to refrain from engaging in harmful actions. Bhajans were sung to honour Gandhiji and as a tribute to Shastriji, students shared on how the great leader inspired them.

The entire event was a fitting homage to both the leaders, leaving everyone inspired and committed to making a positive difference in the world. The atmosphere was charged with patriotism as everyone joined in singing the national anthem.
