Educational tour clearly demonstrates that experiential learning through museum visits creates a lasting impact on students, making concepts more vivid, relatable and memorable than textbook study alone.

The students of Standard X from St. Kabir High School, Navrangpura, recently embarked on an enriching educational tour to the Lalbhai Dalpatbhai (L.D.) Museum, one of the most reputed cultural institutions of the city. The visit aimed to provide students with a deeper understanding of India’s artistic legacy and the role of museums in preserving heritage.

Students were then guided through different sections showcasing sculptures, manuscripts, miniature paintings and coins. The highlight of the tour was a special exhibition on the Santhal community, which captured the imagination of the students.

The exhibition displayed vivid paintings and narratives depicting life—The use of natural pigments, bold lines and rhythmic patterns reflected the harmony of the Santhals with nature. Students were particularly fascinated by the way these artworks celebrated community bonds and cultural identity

The guided interactions encouraged them to connect classroom lessons in history, literature band art with real-life artefacts.

Many students expressed their reflections after the tour. One remarked, “The Santhal paintings looked alive; another added, “Seeing tribal art alongside classical works taught us that every community contributes to India’s heritage.”

The visit not only deepened their appreciation of India’s diverse art traditions but also instilled in them the importance of cultural preservation. The school expressed gratitude to the L.D. Museum authorities for their hospitality and to the parents for their cooperation.

The educational tour proved to be both informative and inspiring, leaving students with a renewed respect for India’s pluralistic culture and creative traditions.
